Senior Architect
Aetna is taking on a major initiative to redesign and rebuildmany of its customer facing digital assets. This effort will include acompletely new approach to building software within Aetna, using the latestdesign approaches, technologies, and processes. Aetna Digital, a newlyformed startup like business unit within Aetna, will design, build and deliver completelynew and integrated digital experiences for our users.
Aetna Digital is looking fora Software Architect Advisor that will interface with several disciplineswithin various BUs within Aetna including UI, PM, Partners, Engineering,etc. toward the creation of a unified customer facing experience. This roll would require EXCELLENT coalition building skills, solid technicalknowledge up and down the stack, great communication skills, and the ability todesign restful application APIs.
Fundamental Components:
The ideal candidate will be able to work with stakeholders,including business, product, and UX team members to influence the applicationdataflow design and extensible product platform architecture.
Experiencewith various types of software architectures including Microservicearchitecture
A disciplined approach to software development and problemsolving
Passion for technology and a high technical aptitude
Workingin an Agile SDLC
Participate in high-level estimation
Work with best of breed technologies (Cloud, high throughputevent processing, data analytics, etc.)
A proven track record of working as part of a team on largearchitectural projects
Excellent verbal and written communications

years of recent and related experience
Technologies and Experience background desired:
Extensiveexperience with design and development of complexsystems; including requirements analysis, estimation, implementation andtesting
Experiencewith various types of software architectures including Microservicearchitecture
Modern technologies experience including: Node.js, Python, Ruby,AngularJS, messaging (i.e. AWS SNS/SQS, Rabbit MQ), and other cloud services.
Experience designing RESTful APIs that map the user experience intobackend functionality
Experience/knowledge with CI/CD
Experience with SAFe Software Development Principles a plus
EDUCATION
The highest level of education desired for candidates in thisposition is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
