Manager, Database Systems
We are currently engaged with a client who is seeking a Manager, Database Systems on a Consulting to Full time direct employee basis. In this role, the Database Manager will:
Manage, organize, and control the maintenance, support and ongoing administration of clients' database environment.
Manage folks with Oracle, SQL or DB2, development and DBA, backgrounds in support of development projects and applications in production.
Ensure reliability, availability, security, and scalability of all databases on multiple platforms
Plan, manage and ensure the reliability of all corporate database systems
Work in conjunction with the IT Infrastructure departments to determine the appropriate storage configuration, backup and recovery procedures to meet application requirements
Manage capacity and resources planning which includes being a proactive member of project team recommending hardware, software, and solutions as necessary.
Be responsible for functions related to recruiting, turnover, and performance reviews.
The appropriate individual will have demonstrated experience in the following:
Monitoring, performance tuning, database design, architecture, storage, configuration, backup, security/SOX and troubleshooting
Best Practices around creating backup and recovery systems
Information Systems with a proven track record in managing complex IT projects.
Database administration with extensive experience in a senior/lead role.
Management position leading a DBA department including personnel management.
Database operations, backup and recovery, performance tuning and database related project leadership in a large corporation
Application and software development life cycle methodologies.
Database tools, products, and design.
