Our community engagement activities are designedin large partto excite and educate the Down syndrome community about researchand the importance of participation.
LuMind IDSCs signaturecommunityprograms,myDSCand Family Weekend,bringtogethermore than 5,000participantsin pursuit ofreliableinformation andannualconnections.
LuMindIDSC is looking for an accomplished and creativeleadertobring our community programs tothe next level.
The Director of Community Programs positionThe Director of Community Programsoverseesall aspects ofthe organization'scommunity-facingprograms, which areaimed at bringing the Down syndrome community closer to theLuMindIDSC mission and activities.
This position reports to the Vice President of Marketing and Community Engagement andsupervisesthe CommunityProgramsCoordinator, project contractors, and volunteer ambassadors.
The Director of Community Programswilldrivethe re-development and expansion ofLuMindIDSC's legacy communityprograms (myDSC and Family Weekend),anddirect thechanges/enhancements that will:
leadprogrammembersalong a knowledge journey toward researchawareness andparticipation,make the programs more financially sustainable,andalign those programs to bothcommunityneeds andotherorganizational goals.
Through the development, growth,and management of programs, events, and resources, the Director of Community Programsistasked withexpanding program scope and increasing programand,subsequently, researchparticipationwhile building trust, value, and relationships in the Down syndrome community.

Roles & ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Community Programs will:
Providestrategic input and manageoveralloperations ofmyDSC,LuMindIDSC's members-onlydigitalresourceinformation platform Driveexpansion ofmyDSCwith goal ofincreasing membership, engagement, andutilization Advise and support the staff accountable formyDSCprogramoperationsandplatformmanagement Design and oversee the expansion, systemization, and standardization of Family Weekend activities Develop a volunteer training program to support Family Weekend activities Find ways to meaningfully connect Family Weekend to researchawareness and participation Work with the Development team toidentifyand support the cultivation of potential Family Weekend andmyDSCsponsors/funders, with the aim of making the programs more sustainable Collaborate with the Development team on grant and donor proposals relevant to community programs In addition, the Director of Community Programs will:
Occasionally represent LuMind IDSC and our mission at community events, conferences, etc.
Maintain program-related data, produce reports, deliver on key measurements, andbe responsible formeeting programmatic and outreach goals Providecommunity-based feedback to the Marketing and Research teamson initiatives and campaigns related to research recruitment and enrollment Qualifications & Experience Minimum5years ofcommunity-basedprogram oversightexperience, with at least3years in a management role Past successindeveloping and growing community-based programsand/or virtual programs, membership programs, service programs, family-based conferences or similar Demonstrated skill at project management and working toward common goals with internal teams and external partners Abilitytotranslate programmatic needs intoproject goals, timelines,resources plans, and tasks Proven success at managing people- both staff and contractors,as well asbudgets and resources to meetambitious goals Experiencesolicitingand analyzingcommunity input Deep knowledge and understanding ofthe Down syndrome(or other I/D disability)community, caregivers, service providers, and self-advocates Strong professional writing and communication skills, grantwriting,or grant reporting experiencea plus Experience managing volunteerspreferred Recommended Skills Communication Community Management Leadership Measurement And Metrology Problem Solving Project Management Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
